VFX Line Producer - Berlin Posted 11/2/2020

We are currently looking for a Junior VFX Producer/Line Producer to join our team in Berlin from March on.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Work together with the Producer and Supervisors to create, implement and run the schedule, track and manage workflows throughout the departments and meet internal and external deadlines
- Independently manage smaller shows, clients communication and oversee and manage related bids and budgets
- Communicate changes to client sessions, dailies or meetings either directly or through the Coordinators
- Anticipate and communicate issues to the Producer and Supervisor in order to resolve problems quickly
- Take responsibility for knowing the details of the schedule and advising the Coordinator accordingly
- Oversee the execution of client deliveries.

Desired Experience:
- At least 2 years experience in Visual Effects or Post Production producing and project management
- Passionate about film
- Experience managing artists and clients
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience in working with Shotgun or similar database
- The ability to work within a team towards a common goal
- An understanding of live-action and CG based VFX workflows
- The ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in managing artists and clients
- A strong, clear communicator, leading teams with enthusiasm
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Previous scheduling experience
- Fluent in German and English 
- EU citizenship or German Work permission

You will be incorporating your art-driven unique perspective on the project brief for the best aesthetic and technical approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating CG cameras, object tracks and body tracks to match the BG plate
  • Geometric reconstruction of key objects in a scene
  • Conducting quality control checks to ensure the accuracy of each track
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure CG elements are seamlessly integrated into a shot
  • Work well in a team environment and take direction from team leads and the production team

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years’ matchmove experience in a VFX facility working on feature film projects
  • Excellent understanding of the 3D VFX pipeline 
  • Professional user of PFTrack or 3DEqualizer 
  • An educational background in Computer Graphics, Animation or another related course
  • A strong understanding of the basic principles of computer graphics
  • Basic knowledge in Maya, Linux and a compositing package
  • The ability to efficiently meet deadlines
  • A good understanding of photography and the relationship between the lens focal length and the camera’s sensor and image aspect ratio as well as how nodal, non-nodal, mixed camera movement and parallax works
  • Strong attention to details to achieve pixel perfection
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills, including fluency in the English language
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally

  • Mel and/or Python scripting skills

  • to composite live-action shots with CG Elements, including 2D tracking, layering of elements, colour grading and extracting mattes
  • to develop visual solutions for specific effects in conjunction with the VFX supervisor and team leads to keep up with Automatik’s high-end visual effects standards
  • execute assigned shots that are creatively and technically excellent in the fastest way possible
  • to proactively collaborate and communicate with other departments, with Production and with Leads to ensure seamless integration of all elements, meeting schedules and deadlines
  • to follow creative briefs and implement feedback from team leads and the VFX Supervisor
  • to work well in a team environment, to show enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally
     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency and experience with Nuke on feature film projects
  • Strong artistic background, with an eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in the English language, ability to understand and apply shot notes
  • Ability to structure Nuke scripts and creative workflow to facilitate efficiently conceptual changes
  • A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure to meet deadlines
  • EU citizenship or an existing UK work permit
     

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • to create photo-realistic digital matte paintings in Photoshop
  • to develop the look of a shot/sequence in liaison with the VFX Supervisor and to ensure that DMP meets client requirements
  • to seek out photographic reference material, where needed
  • to communicate regularly with Production regarding schedules and deadlines, while maintaining the highest standards
  • to work with CG and compositing teams to ensure shots are delivered on time and budget

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong understanding of real-world materials, lighting and composition, a basic understanding of CG and compositing workflows
  • A thorough working knowledge of Photoshop
  • An ability to create concept artwork
  • Strong knowledge of photography, with a good sense of artistic composition
  • Previous experience working in a Linux environment
  • Previous experience as DMP artist
  • Working knowledge of Nuke Camera Projection techniques
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Works well in a team

DESIRABLES:

  • Background in arts with an emphasis on photo-realistic work and environments
  • Knowledge and experience of Nuke compositing software and 2D projection methods
  • Knowledge and experience of Maya 3D modelling and rendering programmes
