Welcome aboard AUTOMATIK VFX, a London & Berlin based boutique VFX studio providing a full spectrum of digital image creation; from fantasy creature animation and sci-fi robots to historical world building and interplanetary environments. Operating mostly as the sole vendor we cover everything from conceptual design pre-shoot, through post-vis to the final delivered VFX - working closely with the show running VFX supervisor our department supervisors have a huge creative say in the films and TV shows we create.


You will be incorporating your art-driven unique perspective on the project brief for the best aesthetic and technical approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating CG cameras, object tracks and body tracks to match the BG plate
  • Geometric reconstruction of key objects in a scene
  • Conducting quality control checks to ensure the accuracy of each track
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure CG elements are seamlessly integrated into a shot
  • Work well in a team environment and take direction from team leads and the production team

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ matchmove experience in a VFX facility working on feature film projects
  • Good understanding of the 3D VFX pipeline 
  • Professional user of PFTrack or 3DEqualizer 
  • An educational background in Computer Graphics, Animation or another related course
  • A strong understanding of the basic principles of computer graphics
  • Basic knowledge in Maya, Linux and a compositing package
  • The ability to efficiently meet deadlines
  • A good understanding of photography and the relationship between the lens focal length and the camera’s sensor and image aspect ratio as well as how nodal, non-nodal, mixed camera movement and parallax works
  • Strong attention to details to achieve pixel perfection
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills, including fluency in the English language
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally

DESIRABLE

  • Mel and/or Python scripting skills

  • to composite live-action shots with CG Elements, including 2D tracking, layering of elements, colour grading and extracting mattes
  • to develop visual solutions for specific effects in conjunction with the VFX supervisor and team leads to keep up with Automatik’s high-end visual effects standards
  • execute assigned shots that are creatively and technically excellent in the fastest way possible
  • to proactively collaborate and communicate with other departments, with Production and with Leads to ensure seamless integration of all elements, meeting schedules and deadlines
  • to follow creative briefs and implement feedback from team leads and the VFX Supervisor
  • to work well in a team environment, to show enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally
     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency and experience with Nuke on feature film projects
  • Strong artistic background, with an eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in the English language, ability to understand and apply shot notes
  • Ability to structure Nuke scripts and creative workflow to facilitate efficiently conceptual changes
  • A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure to meet deadlines
  • EU citizenship or an existing UK work permit
     

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Experience using Shotgun
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Python experience

We produce creative, visually stunning and technically challenging VFX and digital projects of the highest quality.

 

The Studio Runner is part of our studio management / support team who are responsible of ensuring the smooth running of our Studio and providing first-rate hospitality to clients and staff.  We're looking for ambitious, diligent and enthusiastic people to come in and add a new dimension to the studio. You'll get a unique insight into how everything works as well as getting to know a wide cross-section of the staff that make up our Studio team.

 

CAREER PATH:

The runner role is a varied, demanding yet rewarding position. Our runners are likely to join production teams of VFX companies as well as to our team, when opportunities arise.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • to provide excellent, attentive client service
  • to support a buzzing and creative studio production team with ad hoc tasks
  • to follow accomplish tasks of changing priorities
  • to keep the studio, kitchen, communal areas, screening & meeting rooms running and looking tidy
  • to work well in a team environment, to show enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A positive, friendly, enthusiastic quick thinker
  • Can-do attitude, proactive in using initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in the English language
  • Interest in VFX, production and post-production
  • Hardworking, multi-tasking, efficient
  • A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet softwares (e.g. word, excel).
  • Knowledge of visual effects processes a plus

- The length of your reel should be limited to 4 minutes and consist of the work you are most proud of.
- We prefer artists to limit their portfolios to 20 pieces representing their strongest current work.
